Sweet Stakes: Guess the Sweets, Win a Prize

Sweet Stakes is the Joseph Project's 2026 fundraising competition, and entries are now open. Guess how many sweets are in our jar, and the 12 closest guesses each win a prize. Entries close on Wednesday 11 November at 23:59.

Why we are raising funds

Every rand raised goes to the Joseph Project's day-to-day running costs and our programmes for children in inner-city Johannesburg. Every weekday during the school term, our Homework Club gives 50 to 60 children from local schools a safe and supportive place to do their homework and projects, alongside the mentorship and discipleship that help them reach their full potential.

Buying a ticket is a way of giving that comes with a chance at a prize. Every ticket and every donation goes to the Joseph Project.

How it works

  • Each ticket carries one guess. Buy as many tickets as you like, and you can back the same number more than once.
  • The 12 closest guesses win. Winners choose their prize in order, so the closest guess picks first.
  • If two guesses are equally close, the one entered first wins. Nothing is decided by chance: this is a competition of skill and judgement, not a lottery.
  • Each person can win one prize.
  • Open to South African residents aged 18 and older.

Ticket prices

Launch special, until Saturday 31 October at 12:00: R50 per ticket, and R40 each for 5 or more.

From 31 October: R80 for one ticket, R70 each for 3 or more, R60 each for 5 or more, and R50 each for 10 or more.

Pay by card or instant EFT, by bank transfer, or in cash at the Joseph Project, 410 Commissioner Street, Fairview. Your ticket numbers and guesses are emailed to you once your payment clears.
